It is nothing other than prayers originating from the Bible accompanied by meditations on the Bible.  The prayers are the Apostles Creed, The Our Father, and the Hail Mary.  While saying these prayers a person meditates on the four principle mysteries of the life of Jesus Christ and Mary, His mother.   They are the Joyful Mysteries, the Luminous Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, and the Glorious Mysteries.  Because the Rosary encompasses the whole of the New Testament, it has been called a "compendium of the Gospel."  The Rosary is thoroughly Biblical.  Let no one tell you otherwise!  If you need to review how to pray the Rosary,  click here.  If you are interested in reading about the origins of the Rosary and how it developed throughout the history of the Church, then click here!

So, the Rosary is intensely biblical, but why should you pray it? Because it is one of the most powerful prayers of the Church and some of the most hopeful promises are given by the Blessed Virgin to those who recite it sincerely and frequently.  Click here to read Our Lady's 15 promises.  Therefore, besides Eucharistic Adoration, no other devotion isrecommended as highly by the popes and saints of the Church.  Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta said that the Rosary is to Satan what the scourging was to Christ.  Now that's powerful!  Enjoy some more famous quotes from popes and saints throughout the ages in the video below.

Even if the mysteries of the Rosary are found in Scripture, some may object that praying to saints is unbiblical and wrong.  It's not!  We ask for the prayers of our brothers and sisters in heaven for the same reasons we ask for the prayers of our brothers and sisters on earth: we need help becoming holy and overcoming obstacles.  The difference between those on earth and those in heaven is that the latter are totally purified from sin.  All the more reason why we should turn to them!  Therefore, there should be no objections to praying the Rosary because we're address our Lady in the "Hail Mary."  (Click here for a full biblical and logical explanation of why we can, and should, pray to the saints.  Click here for a defense of the Rosary in general.) 

So, pray the Rosary to overcome sin, grow in holiness, and increase your love for God and others.  Pray it every day, alone and with your family.  You won't regret it!
